This project aims to broaden the understanding of urban segregation by analyzing contested urbanism in Sweden and Israel. It seeks to develop a multidisciplinary framework that connects qualitative and quantitative research to better inform urban planning and policy for ethnic minorities.
The proposed project’s meta-objectives are twofold, first; from a theoretical perspective the starting point of the project is the suggestion that rather than limiting the 'extreme divided’ city label to a selected number of contested places, there is an increasing need to broaden the category itself in order to deepen the understanding of contested urbanism across the spectrum.
