The CORNET project investigates noise generation in low emission aircraft engines to meet regulatory standards. It focuses on understanding the flow physics of combustion noise and developing predictive tools for industry use.
Lean burn combustor technologies introduced to reduce NOx emissions are proving to be inherently noisier than conventional combustors, generating broadband noise that can be heard external to the aircraft.
