This project aims to simulate non-thermal radio sources in merging galaxy clusters using advanced numerical methods. By developing cosmological simulations that incorporate magnetic field dynamics and cosmic-ray behavior, the project seeks to enhance our understanding of the energetic processes in the universe.
Merging galaxy clusters are among the most energetic events in the Universe.
Their interaction generates shocks and turbulence in the ionised cluster medium, driving the amplification of magnetic fields and the acceleration of relativistic particles.
This leads to the formation of large diffuse radio sources in some clusters.
The next generation of radio telescopes, including the European LOFAR observatory, will revolutionize the field, unveiling a complex picture of these non-thermal processe…
