This project focuses on understanding the bacterial cell cycle using Bacillus subtilis as a model. It aims to identify factors involved in chromosome organization and cell division through genetic screening and advanced molecular techniques.
The cell cycle is one of the most pivotal and fundamental processes in biology and encompasses a set of inter-related events, most prominently, chromosome replication, chromosome segregation and cell division.
Each of these steps is highly complex, and bacterial cells offer the opportunity to study cell cycle processes in a simplified, relatively tractable context.
