This project examines the representation of poverty in early twentieth-century British literature and sociology. By analyzing a digital corpus and conducting archival research, it aims to understand how these representations relate to societal values and productivism.
The early twentieth century saw a major shift towards an interest in representing the experiences of the poor within British culture.
