This anthropological study explores the experiences of women with intellectual disabilities in Spain following the abolition of forced sterilization. It examines the implications for reproductive rights and the potential for future support in reproductive choices.
In 2020, Spain abolished the widely practised and legally permissible forced sterilisation of Spanish women with intellectual disabilities (WID), marking a new era of disability reproductive justice and bringing the medical and familial reproductive control of WID to the forefront of socio-political awareness.
