The project focuses on developing high precision and sensitivity measurements of stable isotopes for essential elements like zinc and copper. It aims to utilize these measurements to monitor metal homeostasis and create innovative diagnostic methods for early detection of Alzheimer's disease.
During the course of the PRISTINE proposal we have developed the first high precision high sensitivity stable isotope measurements for a variety of vital elements, including Zn, and Cu .
With these technical advances we realized that we could monitor stable isotopic changes within organisms that open up a new way to study metal homeostasis as well as a new ways of detection diagnosis for diseases, in particular the Alzheimer's disease.
