This project aims to enhance understanding of food web dynamics by modeling the effects of species dispersal on ecosystem stability and functioning. It includes experimental studies on freshwater plankton to validate theoretical predictions regarding trophic interactions.
Metacommunity theory and its empirical tests have yielded novel insights into how ecological communities are structured at multiple spatial scales.
