This project investigates the genetic and molecular interactions involved in fruit development and dehiscence in Arabidopsis and Brassica. It focuses on key genes like REPLUMLESS, SHATTERPROOF, and JAGGED to understand their roles in fruit structure and to develop shatter-resistant crops for the oilseed rape industry.
Despite the growing number of transcription factors that play a role in fruit patterning in Arabidopsis, little is known about the molecular interactions that control this fundamental process for plant reproduction.
