This project investigates how cellular stress triggers inflammation, focusing on the role of Death Receptors as stress-associated molecular patterns. By understanding these mechanisms, the research aims to identify new targets for treating chronic inflammation linked to diseases like cancer and diabetes.
Inflammation is initiated in response to the detection of foreign entities, called PAMPs derived from infectious agents, or due to the release of intracellular contents, called DAMPs, due to serious tissue damage (i.e. necrosis).
