This project investigates the effectiveness of seasonal malaria chemoprevention and booster vaccinations in children to improve malaria control in the Sahel region. It aims to determine the best delivery method for booster doses to maximize coverage and impact on malaria incidence.
Seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), the administration of sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine and amodiaquine (SP+AQ), during the peak period of malaria risk has proved to be a highly effective malaria control measure in areas where transmission of malaria is highly seasonal;
SMC was administered to 45 million children in 2021.
