The DETOCS project aims to reduce carbon emissions in cement production by increasing the use of Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs). It leverages digital tools to enhance the quality of cement blends, targeting a significant decrease in clinker usage.
Cement production is responsible for 8% of global CO2 emissions, mainly from limestone processing to produce clinker.
Clinker can be replaced by other raw materials, such as clay, ashes, slags or recycled concrete fines.
