The DILREACT project aims to enhance the understanding of contaminant transport in groundwater by studying mixing processes in porous media. It combines laboratory experiments with mathematical modeling to improve remediation strategies for contaminated aquifers.
The quantitative understanding of contaminant transport is a fundamental requirement for the protection and management of groundwater resources and for the implementation of natural attenuation and/or engineered remediation technologies.
