This project evaluates an innovation support scheme aimed at improving age diversity in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It includes cognitive training for older employees and leadership training to reduce stereotypes and enhance innovation.
Due to changing demographics in Germany and the UK and associated retirement policies, in organisations age diversity is expected to increase.
Previous research has suggested that age diversity can impact innovation on different organisational levels.
On the individual level increased age is associated with a decline of fluid cognitive abilities, which are relevant for the development of innovative ideas.
