This project develops a digital radiography inspection tool for powder metallurgy parts to detect defects before they are processed. It aims to improve manufacturing reliability and reduce costs by enabling the reuse of rejected materials.
Powder metallurgy is the major manufacturing route for a wide range of industrial parts which are produced by cold pressing powder in a die and sintering the resulting green body in a furnace.
