This project focuses on developing a human skin model to study Staphylococcus aureus infections and vaccine development. It integrates immune components to better understand the pathogen's mechanisms and provides alternatives to animal testing.
Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a major human pathogen and cutaneous infections are among the leading cause of emergency department visits.
Unfortunately, S. aureus vaccine development is hindered by the lack of known correlates of protection.
