This project focuses on combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria by targeting dormant bacterial cells known as persisters. By understanding the molecular mechanisms behind antibiotic tolerance, it aims to develop new drug candidates that effectively eliminate these persistent infections.

Slow growing, dormant cells (known as persisters) are subpopulations of bacteria that tolerate antibiotics and are considered a primary source of infections for antibiotic-resistant pathogens since they are difficult to eradicate in conventional ways.
