This project develops a compact optical cooling system using electroluminescence for applications requiring temperatures between 50-200 K. It aims to demonstrate the feasibility of this technology and explore its potential for commercialization in various technical fields.
Refrigeration is necessary in an ever increasing number of technical applications with significant societal importance.
The presently available solutions, however, have several shortcomings especially in applications requiring extremely compact cooling with access to cryogenic temperatures.
