This project focuses on translating and analyzing ancient Confucian manuscripts from Guodian, China, dating back to the 3rd century B.C. It aims to provide insights into early Confucian philosophy, examining concepts such as human nature, moral conditions, and self-cultivation techniques.
In 1993, a bundle of bamboo-slip manuscripts were unearthed in a tomb, dated sometime between the late fourth and the early third century B.C., in a village named Guodian, in China.
In addition to other written materials, the archaeological excavation revealed an important number of Confucian treatises, many of them without transmitted counterpart.
