This project investigates how genetic variations in serotonin function influence emotional processing biases from early development. It aims to understand the neural connections involved and how these biases affect attention to emotional cues in infants, potentially informing interventions for emotional disorders.
Recent research has shown that genetic variations in central serotonin function are associated with biases in emotional information processing (heightened attention to signals of negative emotion) and that these biases contribute significantly to vulnerability to affective disorders.
