This project explores the activation of brown adipose tissue to combat cardiometabolic diseases. By investigating a novel NAD+ precursor, it aims to understand its effects on brown fat function and its potential as a therapeutic approach for metabolic disorders.
Cardiometabolic disease comprises a group of disorders including obesity, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, hypercholesterolaemia and glucose intolerance.
These are the underlying cause of the majority of cardiovascular diseases, which represent the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the Western World.
