The project investigates the cochlea of toothed whales to understand their echolocation abilities. By analyzing cochlear morphology and its relationship to diet and behavior, it aims to provide insights into the evolution of these marine mammals.
Toothed whales (Odontoceti) are a spectacular example of evolutionary adaptation, highly specialised apex predators and a key component of modern ocean ecosystems.
