This project examines non-judicial debt collection practices to identify and address abusive methods that infringe on consumer rights. Through comparative analysis of existing regulations, it aims to propose improvements for legal frameworks governing debt recovery across Europe.
Non-judicial debt-collection (NJDC) designates all methods employed by a creditor for debt recovery that do not involve the judiciary or other state agents (bailiffs, sheriffs, or police officers).
In other words, it is a form of private enforcement.
