ECHOINGWARS examines how war narratives evolve within globally dispersed communities and their impact on conflicts. The project focuses on the interconnectedness of communities affected by war, particularly the Banyamulenge in the African Great Lakes region.
ECHOINGWARS will study how variations in war narratives develop within a globally dispersed community and impact the conflict through feedback mechanisms.
While communities directly experiencing war and those in exile are usually studied separately (conflict studies and refugee studies), it is crucial to consider these globally dispersed communities as interconnected and key actors in the construction of war narratives.
