The ECORISC project investigates how climate change and invasive species impact seed dispersal in island ecosystems. By analyzing a global dataset of seed-dispersal networks, it aims to understand the resilience of these systems and the consequences of biodiversity loss on ecosystem functions.
Global biodiversity loss is disproportionately rapid on islands, which despite being hotspots of biodiversity, comprise ~ 80% of world’s species extinctions.
