This project develops an independent system for synthesizing unnatural polymers in living cells. It aims to enhance the incorporation of non-standard building blocks into proteins, improve mutagenesis efficiency, and explore new genetic codes, potentially leading to novel cellular functions.
We are building a parallel and independent (orthogonal) translational machinery for the encoded biosynthesis of unnatural polymers in living cells.
