This project aims to optimize pesticide formulations by studying the dynamics of emulsion drops on plant surfaces. By understanding how these emulsions behave during evaporation and spreading, the project seeks to enhance pesticide efficiency and reduce environmental risks.
Pesticides are critical to enhance crop production, with global usage reaching 4.3 million tons, double the amount used in 1990.
They are typically formulated as oil-in-water emulsions, where active ingredients are dissolved in oil and stabilized with surfactants to improve adhesion to plant surfaces.
