This project aims to tackle challenges in ion-based quantum computing by developing a micro ion trap and improving methods for addressing individual ions. These advancements are crucial for enhancing the fidelity and speed of quantum operations, paving the way for more complex quantum systems.
Recent amazing experiments with trapped ions have demonstrated the feasibility of ion based quantum computing.
At the same time, these prove of principle experiments have allowed us to analyze the experimental limitations on the fidelity of each quantum operation, on its speed, as well as on the storage time of the quantum memory.
