The EM-POWER project investigates the complex interactions between genetic, environmental, and brain factors in mental health. By focusing on modifiable social and lifestyle influences, the project aims to shift the understanding of mental health from a deterministic view to one that emphasizes personal agency.
Mental health problems are associated with variation in the brain and genome.
The mechanisms underlying these associations are extremely hard to discern because they are subtly distributed across thousands of genes and not specific to neural processes.
