This project studies the impact of large-scale mining on economic growth in Mongolia, focusing on how local narratives shape economic behavior. It aims to understand the interplay between individual actions and broader economic trends in the context of East Asia.
This project examines how predicted economic growth is experienced by people in Mongolia with the advent of large-scale mining operations.
Our project will generate new insight into two areas of concern for economic anthropology and beyond.
First we will examine the way that the economy is unfolding in a distinct way in East Asia through different kinds of predictive narratives that come to have an effect on the way people act.
