The EMPHASIS project aims to create a networked sensor system for detecting illegal explosive production in urban areas. It combines various sensor technologies to monitor air and sewage for explosive materials, enhancing urban safety.
The objective with the EMPHASIS project is to develop a system for detecting ongoing illicit production of explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in urban areas.The EMPHASIS system will be composed of networked sensors.
Area sensors, strategically positioned, for the monitoring of explosives or precursors to explosives in the vapour phase will be used.
Static sensors, positioned in the sewer, for the monitoring of the sewage for indicative traces will also be used.
