The ENCOUNTER project investigates the Jomon-Yayoi transition in Japan, a significant cultural shift where indigenous communities adopted farming practices. By analyzing archaeological records and employing various scientific methods, it aims to understand the differing responses of societies to this cultural change.
Human history is punctuated by episodes of large-scale diffusion of new ideas and people that lead to era-defining transitions in past societies.
