This research project focuses on understanding the biogenesis and regulation of secretory organelles in apicomplexan parasites, which are crucial for their invasion of host cells. By analyzing these organelles, the project aims to identify novel pathways that could lead to new treatment options against these pathogens.
Apicomplexan parasites invade the host cell in an active process that involves gliding motility, formation and movement through the moving junction (MJ) and establishment of a prasitophorous vacuole (PV) around the parasite.
