This project aims to develop a novel type of mesoporous silica nanoparticle for targeted cancer therapy, particularly for brain tumors. By utilizing stimuli-responsive materials, it seeks to improve drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier and enhance treatment efficacy while minimizing side effects.
Cancer treatment by current clinical methods has many side effects, which result from the non-specificity of these methods.
Moreover, treatment of some cancers, such as brain tumors, is extremely difficult because the brain barriers (blood-brain barrier (BBB) and blood tumor barrier (BTB)) prevents more than 98% of drugs from entering the brain.
