This project studies the early inhabitants of Southwest Amazonia and their role in the domestication of local plants. By examining archaeological sites and employing advanced techniques, the research aims to uncover the socio-ecological dynamics and plant management strategies of these ancient populations.
This project investigates two relevant, inter-related and multi-disciplinary topics in the prehistory of the Neotropic: 1) the social-ecological dynamics of earliest people of SW Amazonia and 2) the role these early Holocene populations played in the domestication of Neotropical plants.
