The project focuses on developing a control algorithm for Variable Speed Limits (VSL) in traffic management. It aims to optimize traffic flow by adapting to different congestion types through a dual-level control strategy, enhancing practical implementation in large networks.
The main objective ETC-VSL, the proposed MSCA, is the design and testing of a control algorithm for Variable Speed Limits (VSL) that approaches the behavior of an optimal controller and can, at the same time, be applied in practice to large traffic networks.
