This project investigates the role of the European Union in shaping a common cultural heritage across Europe. It examines the political implications of heritage initiatives and the dynamics of ownership and meaning in transnational cultural contexts.
The problematic of transnational cultural heritage has become topical in a new way in Europe with the utilization of the idea of heritage for political purposes in the EU policy.
