EVOSS is a service designed to enhance volcanic hazard monitoring by integrating advanced spaceborne data with ground-based observations. It aims to improve response capabilities for volcano observatories, particularly in remote areas, by providing real-time data on volcanic activity and potential eruptions.
The decision to propose EVOSS (a downstream service uniquely related to volcanic hazard monitoring) was driven by 9 institutional End Users from the EU, the Caribbean and Africa, with objective technical needs in managing 6 volcano observatories and having responsibility in current major unrests at 11 volcanoes worldwide, some of which in remote areas subjected to complex operational conditions.
