This project aims to enhance understanding of T cell development in the thymus by using various animal models and analyzing genetic networks. The goal is to develop strategies to improve thymus function and address thymopoietic deficiencies.
The role of the thymus in cell-mediated immunity was discovered about 50 years ago and it has since become apparent that the thymus is the site of T cell development in all extant vertebrates.
