This project investigates how viruses evolve to mimic host proteins, creating genetic conflicts. By combining structural modeling and evolutionary analyses, it aims to understand the interactions between viral mimics and host proteins, shedding light on viral evolution and potential zoonotic risks.
Viral mimicry is a prevalent evolutionary mechanism for the acquisition of host-protein domains in order to hijack cellular pathways.
By leveraging the similarity between the original host and the mimicked domain, the viral mimic forms interactions with host proteins.
