This project investigates the factors influencing well-being by examining both individual and collective characteristics across different geographical levels in Europe. It aims to understand how social interactions within various community sizes impact life satisfaction, utilizing data from the European Social Survey.
The analysis of the determinants of well-being has typically been carried out either at the micro-level to quantify the relationship between income and well-being of individuals within countries, or at the macro-level looking at the aggregate relationship between happiness and GDP between countries.
In this project we consider a multilevel structure where characteristics both at the individual and aggregated levels jointly determine life-satisfaction.
