ExpeCO2SolTrap investigates the solubility trapping of carbon dioxide in geological formations to enhance long-term CO2 storage. The project focuses on understanding the effects of pore scale and Darcy scale heterogeneities on CO2 dissolution and flow dynamics through advanced experimental techniques.
Atmospheric CO2 contributes to 2/3 of the Earth’s global warming by greenhouse effect.
Storing CO2 in deep geological formations is the main mitigation measure currently available.
