The FastEE project aims to develop a new method for measuring the enantiomeric excess of chiral molecules in real-time. By utilizing a novel physical process involving photoionization and elliptically polarized light, the project seeks to enhance the accuracy and speed of chiral analysis across various industries.
Chiral molecules exist as two forms, called enantiomers, which are mirror images of each other but which are not superimposable.
Living organisms are built upon chiral elementary blocks.
Biological processes can thus be extremely sensitive to chirality.
