This project focuses on developing new cancer therapies targeting ferroptosis, a form of cell death linked to certain tumor types. By optimizing inhibitors of ferroptosis suppressor protein 1, the project aims to create effective treatments for cancers that currently have limited options.
Despite significant advancements in the molecular characterization of certain types of cancer, many of these discoveries have yet to translate into substantial improvements in clinical outcomes.
While targeted therapies are available, patients harbouring common oncogenic driver mutations often experience relapse.
