This project aims to design inhibitors that prevent the aggregation of a mutant protein associated with familial amyloidosis, a neurodegenerative disease. By disrupting the formation of harmful protein fibrils, the project seeks to contribute to biomedical advancements in treating such conditions.
Several neurodegenerative and systemic amyloid diseases are putatively caused by the formation of insoluble protein fibrils, which accumulate in human tissues and interfere with normal organ function.
