The Filovirus vaccine project aims to develop vaccines that protect against multiple filoviruses, including Ebola and Marburg. It focuses on creating multivalent vaccines and a comprehensive vaccine library to prepare for future outbreaks in endemic regions.
The overall objective of the proposed broadly protective Filovirus vaccine project is to leverage co-funding from the European Commission to support the development of vaccines that will protect against a range of Filoviruses.
Within this viral family, Ebolaviruses and Marburgvirus are endemic to West and Central Africa and cause frequent unpredictable outbreaks of varying size and duration.
These outbreaks have significant health and societal impacts on populations in the endemic regions.
