This project investigates the role of interleukin-10 in carp, focusing on its production by leukocytes and the effects of both carp and koi herpesvirus interleukin-10 on immune responses. The research aims to understand the evolutionary conservation of this important cytokine's function across vertebrates.
Interleukin (IL)-10 is a cytokine that, at least in mammals, plays a central role in innate and adaptive immunity. IL-10 limits inflammation by acting on macrophages and promotes anti-inflammatory responses via T-helper cells.
