The Flex-ON project aims to develop advanced optical network technologies to enhance Internet capacity and efficiency across Europe. It focuses on creating flexible transceivers that can adapt to varying data rates and optimize signal modulation for better performance in transport networks.
The delivery of fast Internet connections all over Europe is a primary goal of Horizon 2020.
In order to avoid the upcoming capacity crunch on transport optical networks, there is an urgent need for a strong investment in the research and development of future-proof optical broadband infrastructures.
