This project investigates how the nervous system of fruit flies integrates chemosensory information with internal states like hunger, mating, and sickness to influence behavior. It employs genetics, behavior analysis, and physiology to explore neural circuits involved in processing sensory cues in different contexts.
How do we decide what to choose?
While certain cues are preferred, others are avoided.
But even innate preferences and aversions must be evaluated in a context-dependent manner.
