This project analyzes the effects of taxation policies on diet-related health outcomes, particularly obesity. By comparing France and the UK, it aims to understand how different tax interventions can influence consumer behavior and food choices to improve public health.
Diet-related chronic diseases are a major public health concern in most developed countries.
Numerous policies aimed at stemming the rise in obesity, ranging from informational campaigns on diet and nutrition, to policies that aim to change the relative prices of certain foods using the tax system, as well as regulation on how food is produced, packaged and retailed.
